9 8 R P M and Artyem present ART/RPM 002, a new hypnotic techno EP

Review of ART/RPM 002, the new EP by 9 8 R P M and Artyem. Percussive groove, Detroit techno, hypnosis, and high-level sound design.

9 8 R P M and Artyem present ART/RPM 002: hypnosis, groove, and sonic precision

With ART/RPM 002, producers 9 8 R P M and Artyem deliver a new hypnotic techno release that finds its strength in the combination of percussive groove, functional minimalism, and a meticulously crafted spatial design. Released as a self-release, this EP is presented as a collaboration where both artistic visions converge into a single sonic identity.

From the very first bars, ART/RPM 002 makes its pillars clear: dynamic percussion, hypnotic synthesizers, and a highly precise mix. One of the most outstanding aspects of the EP is the way each element finds its place within the stereo field. The sounds feel defined and separated, allowing each layer to breathe without losing cohesion within the whole. The result is a fluid and immersive listening experience, where tension arises from controlled repetition and the constant interaction between rhythmic elements.

Throughout its four tracks, the EP explores different levels of intensity without abandoning its identity. The opening relies on a percussive groove that evokes certain influences of Detroit techno, with rhythmic patterns reminiscent of the school of producers like Jeff Mills. Further on, the release incorporates twisted synthesizers and bright percussion that increase the energy and the sense of movement. The journey continues toward denser and more mental territories, driven by deep basslines and an immersive atmosphere, finally leading to a closing marked by drones, enveloping pads, and a more classic hypnosis within the genre.

Beyond its functionality for the dancefloor, ART/RPM 002 stands out for the level of detail present in its production. The sound design work, the spatial organization of the elements, and the care put into the mix reflect a clear aesthetic search and a deep understanding of the codes of contemporary hypnotic techno.

With this release, 9 8 R P M and Artyem deliver a solid, coherent, and carefully constructed EP, capable of connecting both with lovers of hypnotic techno and with those looking for productions where technique and artistic sensitivity coexist in perfect balance.
